Position Overview:

The Radiology Tech II (Mammography Tech) performs Mammography studies and related procedures in accordance with established rules of good practice and established policies and procedures.  Principal accountabilities include:

  • Has good knowledge of positioning, technical factors, clinical information and correct marking and labeling of films.
  • Ensures that radiation doses for patients remain within safe ALARA limits.
  • Follows radiation safety best practices.
  • Demonstrate skills and knowledge necessary to assess the age specific needs of the patients served, and provide appropriate care

  • Completion of a formal two-year course in an accredited program in Radiologic Technology.
  • Completion of 8 hours of digital mammography education. 
  • Certified by the state of California in both Radiologic Technology and Mammography.
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist. 
  • BLS certification from AHA Minimum 1 year as a working Mammography Technologist using digital technology.
  • Completion of 40 hours of initial mammography training.
  • Has knowledge of PACs and EPIC including registration, scheduling, ordering, charging, and reports as required to carry out job assignment. 
  • Demonstrates skills and knowledge necessary to assess the age specific needs of the patients served, and provide appropriate care
  • Critical thinking skills as it relates to specialized departments this may include the ability to complete age –appropriate assessments
  • Basic computer skills to include keyboarding and data entry skills to enter information into electronic health records
  • Ability to lift and position patients properly using best practices
  • Ability to maintain composure during challenging interpersonal interactions
